In August Jerime and I decided to go last minute to Victoria B.C. to watch Manafest in Concert, it was the only time he was going to be close to our area. So we left Friday Afternoon and barely caught the last ferry over to Vancouver Island. We arrived in Duncan just before midnight. It was a nice little town. On Saturday we got up early and went up North to Nanaimo which was a cool little town, I wish we would've had more time to walk around. Then at 3pm we headed over to Cowichan River Bible Camp to get set for the all evening concert. We got there and it was a primitive camp which made it feel cozy. Everyone grabbed a spot on the grass, so we laid out our blanket and grabbed some chicken and french fries. They had a new food called "Poutine" which is French Fries covered in gravy and cheese, we didn't have enough guts to try it! But EVERYONE else seemed to LOVE IT! Dang Canadians. There were quite a few bands that played that were local and they weren't bad. When I got there I had an issue with my wrist bracelet being too tight, and a lady had one of the guys there help us with it, he was so nice, we later found out he was the lead singer for the band that sponsors the event Friday's Cry. So when he got on stage I told Jer, hey that was who helped me, and he was just a nice guy, but he knew how to rock! :) Some of the bigger names that played was Friday's Cry, Manafest, and Thousand Foot Krutch! Of course Manafest was AMAZING, Jer and I both love his music, and if you've never heard of him, you need to google him right NOW! TFK was great too. But Manafest was the reason why we drove up! So we rocked out all night, met and got our pic taken with Manafest and had him sign our cd covers! We went home and woke up early Sunday morning to drive back to Victoria to catch the ferry home. We got in at 7:30 am, and BARELY made the 3:00pm ferry back to the states! Of course when we pulled in there were all the fancy sports cars all lined up ready to go onto the ferry, and Jer was drooling all over them! So we ate a breakfast at a quaint little cafe, then went to the Royal BC Museum and saw the Titanic Exhibit. We then grabbed lunch at Barb's on the Warf, THEY HAVE THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER! YUMMY! And we got the 2 piece portion, and it was MORE than enough for both Jer and I, and you all know how Jer eats! Then we walked by all the houseboats, then got ready to catch the ferry back. The ferry trip back was interesting, we left Victoria, with sunshine, then entered the open waters with dense fog, and at one point the ferry was having to blow it's horn because it was so dense! Kinda scary, especially after just visiting the Titanic Exhibit! But we arrived safely in Washington, then enjoyed a scenic ride home. Aunt Sarah watched the girls for us. It was our first weekend away from home, and by did we miss them, but we had a nice time together! :)
